W?wonderful dog Y?yearning for his forever family A..affectionate, animated, and all-around lovable T?trained (house, crate, and basic obedience!) T?totally cute! When Wyatt was dumped at the City?s animal shelter back in January 2013 because his family was moving, he was very underweight and had extensive demodex mange. The poor guy had almost no fur and lots of sores on his skin from a bad bacterial infection. Nuts for Mutts took him under their wing so he could get the veterinary care he needed, and he has now made a full recovery. Wyatt?s fur has grown back in as a beautiful, shiny black with reddish brown highlights. It?s called ?seal? and it?s a very special, unique color?just like Wyatt is a very special, unique dog. Wyatt is a very ?dog social? dog who loves to play. He absolutely loves going to Dog E Woggy?s Canine Playtime, where he has many friends?both canine and human! Check out Dog E Woggy?s Facebook page to see Wyatt hanging out at his ?home away from home?. Wyatt loves people just as much as he loves other dogs, and he?s a world-class cuddler. He thinks he is teacup-sized and will gladly curl up on your lap if you let him! He loves to be close to you and at the end of the day, he is always right there on the couch with us, snuggled right up and snoozling. While our other dogs don?t really like getting hugs, Wyatt doesn?t mind at all. He sweet, smooshy face is always a welcome sight at the end of a long day. Wyatt is fully housetrained and crate-trained. He knows that mealtimes happen in his crate, so as soon as he sees the food bowls come out, he races right into his crate and waits expectantly. Wyatt has been through puppy obedience class and earned his AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy certificate. He knows ?sit?, ?down?, ?wait?, ?leave it?, and ?shake?.
Playing catch with tennis balls and chasing the flirt-pole until his tongue is down to the ground are two of Wyatt?s favorite past-times. He has turned out to be a really athletic, coordinated dog and probably would love to do a canine sport like flyball. Another one of Wyatt?s hobbies is chew toys?frozen stuffed Kongs, Buster cubes, antlers?and after he?s done playing catch with them, his tennis balls.
Wyatt gets along well with the children he?s met and seems to really enjoy their company. He does have some fearfulness when he?s on leash, however, to toddler-aged children. We think that their movements and voices are a bit confusing to him.
