To adopt, the very first step is to fill out an application found on our website, where you can also read about our adoption process: www.wooftowndoggydaycare.com/adopt_a_dog. OUR ADOPTION FEE IS $250 UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED Trooper is an adorable, happy, black lab mix. He is 3 years old and 75 lbs. He loves people and playing with certain other dogs ( his best friend is Deke-who is also available for adoption). Trooper is house broken and crate trained. He knows how to sit and is great in a car. He is very cuddly and loves to give kisses. Trooper would love an active family that will take him for walks and training classes. He walks well with a gentle leader or easy walk harness. Trooper cannot be in a home with cats. He is also an escape artist with fences, so requires leash walks or an escape-proof tall wooden or vinyl fence. He will push under and possibly climb over chain link fencing. If left alone in a yard he will try to dig out under a fence. Trooper knows sit, shake, down, stay, and roll over. He is very trainable! He naturally 'heels' when walking casually. And just look at that face! We provide as much information on each animal's history, disposition and health as we can gather. Most of our dogs are from shelters and are strays, therfore we may not have any information at all on them, or what breed they are. We strongly believe that honesty is the best policy. We want each of our animals to find the RIGHT home, not just ANY home. Likewise, we want you to find the pet who best matches your lifestyle and interests. You will first be required to complete our adoption application. Once received, a WT rep will contact you via phone or e-mail. If it seems you are a good fit for each other based on the info you provided, a phone interview will follow. If you are renting, we require proof that you are allowed to have a pet as well as any breed or size restrictions that may exist. If you have pets or did previously, we require your vet information and we will call them to verify that your pets are in good health, current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. We require that all pets in the home be spayed/neutered unless there are health reasons that can be verified with the vet. The final step is a home visit, where an WT volunteer comes to your home to verify your home is a safe place for an animal. It is also a time where the volunteer can answer questions and discuss safety precautions. In our Adoption Agreement, we require that every animal be spayed/neutered prior to adoption this means every dog that is adopted from us will be spayed/neutered prior to going to a forever home. This is VERY important as the overpopulation of dogs and cats in our country is a sad result of too many unplanned litters! If for any reason the match is not as perfect as we all had hoped, the dog or cat must be returned to Wooftown, not given away or turned in to a shelter. Serious fines apply to violators of the Wooftown Agreement to Adopt. So be clear about what you are signing and be prepared to abide by the contract. It is legally binding and we take it very seriously.
