He is in excellent health, is crate trained, walks well on a leash, and is housebroken. He's learned a lot of tricks for such a young guy, too. He can sit, stay, wait/ok, give paw, spin, roll over, army crawl, beg, 'go lie down,' 'go to your crate,' and is polite enough to wait at the top and bottom of the stairs until you're all the way up or down (as long as you remember to ask him). He's a great listener, a fast learner, and is very eager to please. Mason loves interaction and is eager to learn new things. He figures out doggy IQ puzzles in a matter of minutes and he's just started learning how to identify objects by name (ball, rope, kong) and bring them to you when asked. Do you love to exercise? So does Mason! He can keep up with even the fittest runner and will play fetch with you as long as your arm holds out. Even if he's all the way across the field, he'll still come back when you call him. Once he's tired, he loves to cuddle up on the couch or on the bed, but has learned to wait for an invitation before jumping up. He's equally at home in his bed or in his crate, and will run to his crate every morning after his walk as soon as you grab a treat and say 'go to bed.' He takes awhile to warm up to new people, but once he knows you well, he'll be your friend for life. His owner is unable to keep him due to some fear aggression issues that caused bites to people he didn't know well. He has bitten on three separate occasions (all in early 2013), when he feels threatened or scared and doesn't feel like he has an escape route. He was found as a stray at 4 months old and we suspect he may have a history of abuse, which makes him cautious of strangers. Mason has seen a trainer and a behaviorist to help cope with these issues, and is on a low dose of fluoxetine to help with his anxiety. The trainer he saw developed a comprehensive plan for him, and is confident that these issues could be improved if someone had the time to work with him on them. Unfortunately, his owner does not have the time to give him the training he needs and deserves. Mason would do well in a home where he can bond closely with one or two people and where he doesn't have to encounter a lot of people he doesn't know well. He loves routine and is happiest when he knows what you want him to do. He is great with other dogs and would love a home where he has another furry friend to play with. He's convinced that small energetic beings are for chasing and roughhousing, so cats and children under the age of 10 are not recommended. We provide as much information on each animal's history, disposition and health as we can gather. Most of our dogs are from shelters and are strays, therfore we may not have any information at all on them, or what breed they are. We strongly believe that honesty is the best policy. We want each of our animals to find the RIGHT home, not just ANY home. Likewise, we want you to find the pet who best matches your lifestyle and interests. You will first be required to complete our adoption application. Once received, a WT rep will contact you via phone or e-mail. If it seems you are a good fit for each other based on the info you provided, a phone interview will follow. If you are renting, we require proof that you are allowed to have a pet as well as any breed or size restrictions that may exist. If you have pets or did previously, we require your vet information and we will call them to verify that your pets are in good health, current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. We require that all pets in the home be spayed/neutered unless there are
