$300.00 03/04/13 - My foster family and I are getting used to each other and I'm settling in nicely. I do prefer a quiet home with a yard so I can run, play, get plenty of exercise, and then I can collapse and catch my breath. I love a good run! Foster Mom and I have been out walking, but she is not used to my ways yet, so right now she is learning my style and stride. I am very much a lady, but love to relax with a good snuggle. If foster mom let's me maybe I'll be invited to get on the furniture for hugs and kisses! More later as we get better acquainted.
12/30/12 - hi it's Missy here... I thought I would take this oportunity to talk about how I'm doing so people can get to know me better. A few things about me... I love to snuggle and will crawl up on your lap if you let me. I also love to run- I start every morning with a high speed run around the back yard. I'm not a big fan of other dogs, in fact I would do best in a home without other dogs. You can tell when I'm stressed around dogs because I stiffen up and get tense. I go for a walk every day and for the past couple weeks I've been feeling good about walking near other dogs. My mom has been happy that I am focused on the walk and not so interested in other dogs. I graduated from my obedience class and do a great job sitting, waiting at the door, staying, and coming when called. I'm not such a big fan of treats, but I love getting a scratch,a head rub and lots of "good dogs"!
My mom says I had a great Christmas. I did a lot of laying around and watching presents opened. I enjoyed plopping down in the middle of everyone and hanging out. I love being around the kids in my house and they love me. In fact, they often argue about where I'm going to sleep. I sleep on the bedrom floors on my bed and sometimes sleep on the beds of all the kids in my house. I would love to be in a home like mine with lots of people and a place to run. I just need a spot where there aren't other dogs around.
12/22/12 ? Missy returned to rescue. Unfortunately after two months Missy is looking for another home. Her family has worked hard to make it work but Missy still has issues with wanting to fight other dogs come near her that she doesn?t know. They have worked with a dog behaviorist and dog trainer. Here is some more info from her current family: ? The dog trainer told us to put her in an obedience class so she would learn that she was not the pack leader. The behaviorist gave us several tips- including having her wait to eat until the family had eaten, having her sit and wait at doorways for people to walk through, and having her walk with dogs. She felt it was critical that Missy learn that she did not have to be in charge, and that we were managing the environment. We put her in obedience class that started November 12 and ended this Monday (dec. 10). She was the star of the class and ignored the other dogs in the class. However, she had 5 additional fights with dogs outside of class. This Monday was the last class and Missy was doing great and for no reason she reached out and snapped at a dog that was walking past her. She then got overly focused on all the dogs around her and the instructor had to intervene. Our kids are afraid to walk her by themselves because they?re afraid she will attack another dog. We spoke with another trainer today and he felt that even if we trained Missy to follow our commands that she still might have the trigger to attack other dogs. Missy is wonderful with people. She shows no aggression whatsoever to people. She has no food aggression with people. She does a great job with her obedience commands. She?s gotten over her initia
